Altinkum
Arriving into the resort of Altinkum you will see straight away
where it gets its name from. Altinkum means golden sands and has
several gloriously sandy beaches which gently shelve in the warm
Aegean Sea .
Located about 70km from Bodrum airport this up and
coming resort has everything to offer the holiday maker or
resident whilst maintaining its definite Turkish feel. There are
three larger beaches in the resort, all of which offer all kinds
of watersport and activities. Along main beach the promenade
slopes around, lined with various bars, shops and restaurants.
Dining in Altinkum is varied and of a high standard. Restaurants
compete with international menus and traditional Turkish food.
Although quite a sleepy resort during the day, Altinkum comes
alive at night with its various bars and nightclubs. The resort
has changed dramatically over the past few years. Whilst it
still retains its Turkish charm, the resort has expanded and the
main road leading you out of the resort will bring you past
several large supermarkets, to the town of Didim . On a Saturday
you will be mixing with the locals at the market. The market
sprawls out and offers a wide variety. Just a few minutes away
are the ancient temple of Apollo . Right on your doorstep, there
is one of the finest examples of ancient Greek architecture.
Spend time during the day wandering around its columns, and dine
at night in the traditional restaurants which overlook it.
Local
buses run over the resort offering you a very cheap and
convenient way to get around. Turkey offers you some of the most
incredible and dramatic scenery in the world. The country is
steeped in history and tours to these ancient sights are highly
recommended. Altinkum is only 90 minutes away from the roman
city of Ephesus- one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world.
Akbuk
The working fishering town of Akbuk is nestled between a
crystal clear and tranquil bay and majestic mountains and pine
forests. The resort looks out of the crystal clear aegean, with
two small islands, making the view truly spectacular. Its Just a
15 minute drive from well know holiday resort Altinkum, and
under 90 minutes from Bodrum Airport.
Akbuk used to be known as
just a small fishing port where the fishermen would go to catch
delicious Aegean Sea bass. Today, However, Akbuk is rapidly
growing into an elite tourist resort with its holiday complexes
as well as summer houses, villas, harbour, and five star hotels.
Akbuk has a good range of shops and markets selling food,
produce, tools and hardware. There are doctors, dentists,
schools and a bus station with regular services going to all of
the neighbouring towns including Altinkum, Soke, Kusadasi and
Bodrum.
The local market on a Friday is a magnet for locals and
tourists alike Akbuk is not as well known yet as resorts as
Kusadasi or Bodrum, but has all potential to become a luxury
resort. It still maintains ots definite Turkish feel, whilst
being welcoming the new British residents.
The tranquil and
countless beaches, with characteristic bars and bistro's along
the quaint harbour will make you enjoy exquisite Turkey. High
builds are not allowed in Akbuk. You will see beautifully
designed villas and houses and most property available is within
walking distance of the beautiful beaches and most of the
infrastructure is in place already.
As this town is rapidly developing, property prices are fairly low and would be
considered a good investment. The town of Akbuk has been
mentioned several times in the last few years. Now its potential
has been spotted, this resort will grow in stature and value.
Bodrum
Bodrum has a definitive Greek in fluence to it, made obvious by
the masses of white washed cube houses on the hill sides. The
resort is only 30 minutes from the airport and is dominated by
its spectacular St peters castle. Considered by many to be the
most cosmopolitan resort, Bodrum offers very high standards in
dining, shopping and entertainment. The marina is as impressive
during the day as it is at night with an array of quality
restaurants lying along the marina. Walk along the marina and
see the array of millionaires yachts mixed with the traditional
Turkish gullets. Bar Street bustles after dark with one of the
liveliest nightlife's in Turkey! It's also home to the famous
Halikarnas nightclub. In Bodrum you have all the major
supermarkets; there is the oasis shopping centre where you will
find the cinema. The Bodrum peninsula also includes sleepy
villages such as Yalikavak, Bitez, Gumbet, Gumusluk and Gulluk,
all of which are developing into resorts in their own right.
Kusadasi
Situated just eight kilometres to the west of
Which translates as Bird Island, is now considered to be one of the most cosmopolitan resorts in the whole country. The drive through the mountains provides spectacular views over the bustling port.
The aegean provides a sparkling backdrop to the extensive marina which curls along the resort. Now a major stopping place for major cruise liners, Kusadasi' s upmarket marina area is home to many fine restaurants and boutiques.
It has the famous ladies beach, just a short bus journey away from the resort centre and accomodation is of the highest standard.
Those of you looking for a lively nightlife will not be disappointed, with many restaurants and bars crowding the bar street area. The resort is bustling, and provides everything a visitor or resident should need.
All the major supermarkets have stores here and there is a twice weekly local market, packed full of local produce and souveniers. Kusadasi is also only a few minutes drive away from the ancient roman city of Ephesus. There are also two of the biggest waterparks in Turkey located on the doorstep!
Marmaris
The town of Marmaris is located at the meeting place of the
Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Marmaris is one of the
largest natural harbours in the world surrounded by pine-clad
hills. Situated in the south-west of Turkey, Marmaris is one of
Turkey s biggest holiday resorts. To the North lies the Gulf
Gokova; to the south, the Mediterranean. Datca Peninsula falls
to the western side and the east is the lake of Koycegiz. The
hills running into the sea and the beautiful bays make Marmaris
the jewel she is. An increasing number of expatriates purchased
a property in this area in the past few years, either for
retirement, holiday home or investment
Oludeniz, Hisaronu & Ovacik
Hisaronu has been a popular resort for well over 15 years due to
its ideal location. Situated several thousand feet above sea
level, it benefits from cooling breezes during even the hottest
days of the year. The scenery is superb and the resort is
surrounded by mountains and protected pine forests. The nearest
beach of Oludeniz - home to the famous blue lagoon - is a few
minutes bus ride away and the pretty harbour town of Fethiye
just 15 minutes the other way. With a myriad shops, restaurants,
cafes and bars the resort is a hot spot for property investment
given the high demand for rental properties during the 7 month
long summer season.
